ACT Advantages

Press-fit, hardened
aluminum & copper fins

ADVANCED COIL TECHNOLOGY’s standard 0.025” or 0.016” thick hardened aluminum or copper fins are “press fit” onto the coil tube for a superior fin bond that easily stands up to aggressive cleaning measures and the rigors of industrial environments. The ACT fins are 3 to 4 times stronger than other fin materials. Other fins are not only thinner, but utilize a “dead soft” (annealed) product to facilitate use in traditional type fin presses where the tube is later expanded into the fins. Steel & stainless steel fins are also available.

Unexpanded tubes in our
plate fin design

ADVANCED COIL TECHNOLOGY’s same “press fit” design allows the tube to remain in its “mill direct” and most desirable annealed and corrosion resistant condition; unlike other plate fin manufacturers, our tube is not expanded.  Plate fin manufacturers typically expand the tube into the fins. This expansion process both thins the tube and adds undue stresses to the tube. In comparison, ACT's coil design is less susceptible to stress related coil failures, which is the most common cause of premature failures in stainless steel coils.

Unexpanded Tubes

Unique, free floating
segmented plate fin design

ADVANCED COIL TECHNOLOGY’s unique, segmented plate fin design eliminates the damaging tube joint stresses which arise out of the unequal expansion and contraction between the fin bundle and the coil headers. This is particularly important in moderate- to high-pressure steam coils – when the temperature differences between the air and/or fin bundle and the steam temperature in the headers is significant.

Unique-Free Floating Segmented Plate Fin Design

Efficient, flat plate design

The “flat plate” design fins minimizes the air side pressure drops, thus lowering the energy consumption of the fans, due to the uninterrupted continuous nature of the plate fin design.  This same design also provides better tube support, superior thermal performance and increased cleanability when compared to individually spiral wound finned tube coils which have at least 40% more leading edge surfaces than plate fins.

Efficient Flat Plate Design

Reliable “TIG”
welded tube to header joints

Precision milled tube holes in the header, along with highly trained and skilled personnel utilizing “TIG” (GTAW – gas tungsten arc welding) techniques, ensure the highest quality, most reliable tube joint possible.

Custom components

In addition to coils, Advanced Coil Technology also provides custom casings and housings that incorporate slide-out coils, access panels, filter sections and fan/blower sections.  We can also supply the complete custom built industrial air handling unit when required.  Packaging these components together provides a better product, “single source” responsibility and lower installation costs than assembling the components together on the job site from multiple suppliers.

ASME Pressure Vessel Construction

Coils built and “U” stamped in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1 are available, when required, on all of our coil models along with custom high pressure housings.  All items may also be National Board registered when required or requested.

See our ASME Certificate here.
